Vice Chair Person

Your vice chair, Janet Annetts:

Hello, I’m Janet and most of you know me from being in the finish tent where I’m busily sorting out the results and created the starts for the next day.

How did I get Into canicross? I decided about six years ago I would learn to run having never been a runner not even at school. So I decided to do the couch to 5K. I didn’t want to do it on my own so I thought I’d take the dogs with me. I became part of Deepdale Doggers and with a friend’s help I got a harness for Echo, my ginger nutter cockapoo. Then I started the couch to 5K sometimes with the dogs and sometimes without.

I then went to an event with my flyball team to do a demo and at that event I met Wendy, and I already knew Annabelle. I went running with them and the next minute I was helping in the main ring doing a canicross demonstration!

The rest is history and I came to a Canicross Midlands event then started helping with marshalling and eventually took on the role of doing the results which I really enjoy.

In the last two years I’ve also had a go at bikejor with Echo, which he has really enjoyed. He is now 12 so will take a step down from the short course competition. I’m hoping that Billy, my Bedlington whippet cross, will step up to the mark and help me continue bikejoring, as I love it.

I took on vice chair last year and I’m continuing in that role alongside Freya and I’m excited to see where we can take the club.
