Multi-breed Teams

🌟BRAND NEW RACE SERIES FOR 25/26 season 🌟

Multi-breed teams
We are so excited to bring something brand new to Canicross Midlands this season. For the first time we will be hosting a multi-breed team series.
The team will be chosen by you and needs to comprise of three separate human athletes racing dogs of three distinct breeds. Below I will post an FAQ section, I’m sure there will be lots of questions which I will do my best to answer:

✖️What class do I have to be racing in?
This is open to EVERYONE entered in a competitive racing class no matter what their age, category, class or distance they are racing (excluding Novice, Odds n Bods and U7’s as these are not for competition). However each team must have at least 1 canicross team and 1 wheels team included in their roster. You do have to declare what event each person in your team will be racing and that must stand for the entire season for points to be counted, if you change class and haven’t attained the correct number of race weekends you wont qualify for the podium.

✖️How will we get points?
So points will be awarded in the same way as our usual series. For each race day you attend your placing within the class will give you a number of points. Everyone in your team must attend a minimum of 7 races (could be 3.5 race weekends) over the course of the season. Points gained by each team member will be accumulated and overall team prizes awarded at Catton Hall.

✖️What is a breed dog?
A breed dog will be classified as a recognised breed of dog according to the UK Kennel Club
OR a crossbreed.
Each team is permitted one of each breed. For example a permitted team could include a labrador, a springer spaniel and a border collie.
You CANNOT have two dogs of the same breed in a team. For example a team CANNOT have 2 labradors and 1 collie.

✖️But what about crossbreeds / mixed breeds?
Don’t worry! You’re still able to take part! Cross breeds will be designated their own breed. To recognise the dogs of all shapes and sizes we have at our races we will have a large crossbreed (18kg and over) and a small crossbreed (under 18kgs) as two separate breeds.
So in a team you could have a collie, a large crossbreed and a small crossbreed OR a labrador, a cocker spaniel and a large crossbreed.
You CANNOT have 2 large cross breeds and a small crossbreed in the same team.

✖️How do I enter?
We will ask you to declare teams as soon as possible during the race season. Entry will be on the website. If you think you would like to be involved and want to get in touch with other potential team mates we will put out a dedicated post for people to ‘advertise’ their dog and help make up teams.

✖️What about two dog teams?
If you race in the two dog section of your event with different breeds of dog then larger dog of the pair will be counted, a two dog team will essentially count as 1 dog and the breed of the larger dog is what is recorded.

✖️how much will it cost?
Cost will be £15 per team, which works out at £5 per team member. The lovely prizes available will be presented at our season finale at Catton Hall.

We are really excited to be trying something new and hope everyone gets involved and can’t wait to see what teams you guys get together 😇
