Marshal Coordinator

Your Marshal Coordinator, Rebekah Tipping:

I'm Rebekah (Becky, Becca, Bec), your new marshal coordinator. You may already know me as the person who was begging for marshals and wranglers at Catton where I officially joined the committee at the AGM. I work with Rachael Huston-Lumb as my second in command and our job is to make sure we have enough wranglers to line you all up for your races, and enough marshals to keep you all safe on course.

Before canicross, I used to compete for Ireland in archery. I was getting a bit burnt out with it after 10 years of competing. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my first ever dog Luna, a collie x kelpie x golden retriever, but she wasn't allowed to come to archery competitions with me. I got Luna with the idea of doing some sports with her and I decided to fully commit to swapping archery for dog sports!

I got Luna as a puppy in 2021 and we started canicross in 2023, entering our first Novice race at Box End. I was astonished to come away our first ever rosette. I had only started couch to 5k during covid as a way to get outside during lockdown, and had never in a million years thought I could ever win something that involved running! I was used to archery, where the best person at standing still normally wins!

Luna absolutely LOVES running, she is the sweetest little angel most of the time, but she turns feral with excitement at a race start line. She tries her absolute hardest at everything and has never given a sport less than 110% effort and her enthusiasm is infectious. We also compete in agility, have dabbled in pet gundog, scentwork and mantrailing, and we completed a season of Novice bikejor last year. I decided to really focus on canicross this year (with still quite a lot agility on the side!) and we have seen our times improve so much - we may never be the fastest out there but I'm so proud with how we work as a team, and we are always having fun!

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into work on the committee next year, I love this community and hope I can do you all proud!
